Success for Briggs Apprentices at the CPA Stars of the Future Awards

Congratulations to Briggs Equipment’s Year 2 Apprentice Joe Westwood and Year 3 Apprentice, Angus MacDonald who were both recognised at the recent Construction Plant-Hire Association’s (CPA) 2021 Stars of the Future Awards.

Angus was nominated for ‘Plant Technician of the Year – Scotland’, whilst Joe was in the running for ‘Plant Mechanic of the Year-Midlands’. Angus came out on top in his category to claim the top prize and Joe received excellent feedback from the awards panel as a finalist. The CPA received almost 70 nominations for the awards ceremony and, as always, the standard of competition was excellent.

Briggs Equipment’s Apprenticeships Team, commented: “Congratulations to both Angus and Joe for their hard work and dedication, and it’s great to see industry wide recognition for Briggs Equipment apprentices.

“Our engineers are the heartbeat of our business and it’s vital that we continue to attract and develop our own engineering talent. The apprenticeship programme at Briggs Equipment is highly respected throughout the industry and we take pride in providing our people with the best possible tools to succeed in their career.”

Both Angus and Joe have spent valuable time learning their craft at Stafford College and their Head of Engineering, Construction & Motor Vehicles, Lisa Reading, commented: “We are so proud of all our award nominees and winners, who have worked so hard during their time with us at Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group. Each year we enter learners into the Stars of the Future award and this year, we have swept the board.

“There was tough competition in every category and coming away with so many awards is fantastic recognition for our students and their employers who work closely with us at NSCG. Well done to each and every one of our deserving winners.”
