At Briggs Equipment our Engineers are the heartbeat our business. They support our customers when they need us most to help keep business moving.

We have a fantastic team of mobile service engineers located across the UK and Ireland who all play a crucial role in the success of our Group. We’re proud of the work our Engineers deliver on a daily basis and through a series of articles, we hope to highlight some of the individual career stories of our people and the work they carry out in supporting our customers across the country.

What is your job title and what area do you cover?

Hello, my name is Mark and I’m a Specialist Technician at Briggs Equipment. I mainly cover customer sites in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

How long have you worked for Briggs?

I’ve worked at Briggs for 21 years.

What does a typical day look like for you?

One of the reasons I enjoy my job so much is the variety. Every day is different and it’s really interesting to be able to work with such a wide range of equipment on multiple customer sites. On one site I get to work with everything from 2 tonne forklifts, scissors lifts, electric reach trucks and reach stackers.

What is your favourite part of the job?

Problem solving and fixing issues for customers is so rewarding and being able to help their business perform to its potential is extremely satisfying. Even though I’m more than 20 years into the job, each day is a new opportunity for me to learn and develop.

How has the role changed over the years?

The technical aspect of the role has advanced so much over the years and it’s crucial to keep adapting and progressing your skills. As a Briggs Engineer you have access to industry leading technology, which allows you to be a lot more precise when diagnosing and solving issues. This helps get machines back up and running much quicker than was previously possible. At Briggs, we also share and collaborate as a team much better and by discussing best practice with each other we’re able to keep improving.

How are you supported at Briggs Equipment with training and development?

The training and development that we have access to is of fantastic quality and variety, which allows us to perform to the best of our ability.

I think one of the main reasons why we’ve got such a high calibre of engineers is because we’re able to deliver training and support that makes a difference. There’s also the Technical team who have expert knowledge across our product range, which means you’re only ever a phone call away from getting an answer to a question.

What would you say to someone who was considering joining Briggs Equipment?

I’d 100% recommend working for Briggs, if you’ve got the capability to learn, develop your skills and a keen interest in supporting customers then you’ll fit right in! I’ve previously recommended a couple of Engineers who joined the business a number of years ago and they’re still here and loving it.
