The wellbeing dogs and puppies visit Merseyside Police for Mental Health Awareness Week

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, Briggs Equipment’s Karen Jones visited Merseyside Police Rose Hill Headquarters on 11th May with her adorable Shiba Inu wellbeing dogs and puppies to provide some much-needed cheer and relaxation.

Staff and officers at headquarters were joined by therapy dogs Prince Harry, Diva and Dennis the Menace, as well as puppies Jago, Umi, Guinness and a yet to be named fourth puppy. Karen regularly visits different local police departments with her Wellbeing Dogs, giving everyone in attendance a moment of relief and joy from the pressure of their challenging jobs.

Community Policing Inspector, Dave Uren, whose team were visited by the therapy dogs after some particularly demanding shifts in the past, said they helped to improve morale among officers.

He explained “We faced a particularly difficult time in the days and weeks that followed the bombing outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital last year, and a visit from the dogs provided officers with some much-needed light relief.

“Our employees can often spend a lot of time away from their colleagues, and the visit of the dogs provided a great opportunity for everyone to get together and share a more joyful moment.

Karen Jones added “I am so proud of the dogs and thrilled to be able to make a difference to the wellbeing of local police officers and staff doing such challenging work, not only during Mental Health Awareness Week but with our regular visits throughout the year too.

“It is amazing how much of a difference a visit from the dogs can make, and really shows the difference taking some time out to relax and consider your wellbeing can make.”
