Frequently Asked Questions about Powered Access Equipment
Powered access equipment, also often referred to as MEWPs or AWPs, is lifting machinery which enables workers to perform tasks at height safely
MEWP stands for mobile elevating work platform and refers to work platforms that can be moved so that its operators to work safely in high spaces.
AWP stands for aerial work platform. Similarly to MEWPs, these machines raise the operator and their work tools to the required height in a safe and controlled manner. Whilst MEWP refers more to lifts that can move, AWPs can refer to all lifting platforms for working at height.
Scissor lifts raise vertically utilising their criss-cross lifting mechanism, and have a long platform, ideal for tasks requiring a wider coverage area.
Yes, a cherry picker is a type of MEWP, officially known as a boom lift. MEWP is an overarching term which also includes scissor lifts and vertical mast lifts.
Frequently Asked Questions about Cleaning Equipment
Some of the most common types of industrial cleaning machines include scrubber dryers, sweepers, and autonomous cleaning machines.
Industrial sweepers are designed to clean large surfaces by sweeping up dirt and debris. These machines can be in the form of a pedestrian sweeper or a ride on sweeper.
Scrubber dryers combine sweeping and scrubbing functionality to effectively clean floors in a single pass.
A scrubber dryer is a cleaning machine used to wash and dry hard floors, widely used in both commercial and industrial settings. These machines offer a combination of cleaning with water and detergent and drying by removing water from the floor.
Sweepers can either be pedestrian or ride-on. Pedestrian sweepers are those that are manually pushed by an operator who walks behind the machine, whereas ride-on sweepers are powered, with a seat for the operator.
Autonomous cleaning equipment is becoming increasingly popular as businesses look to simultaneously improve efficiency and cleaning standards. They use advanced sensors and image processing systems to navigate environments and provide a reliable clean. Find out more about autonomous cleaning machines in this best practice guide.
