Warehouses are always striving to optimise operations, improve efficiency and reduce costs. In our recent blog we covered how, alongside Yale Lift Trucks Technologies, we have all the tools to help businesses transform their warehouse operation. This time out we’re specifically taking a look at warehouse safety standards.
Safety First is a cornerstone of our culture and whether it’s our own activity or that of our customers, we’re always looking for ways in which safety improvements can be made. This includes working closely with our equipment manufacturing partners to develop and introduce solutions that can tangibly improve on-site safety.
The unique safety challenges of a warehouse
When it comes to delivering equipment and solutions to thrive in a warehouse environment, nobody does it better than Yale Lift Truck Technologies. Through our many years of partnership, and real-world feedback from our customers, we know that Yale is a name that warehouse operators can trust and respect.
With that in mind, we also recognise the complex challenges that warehouses face when juggling safety concerns and efficiency gains. Some of these challenges, include:
- Equipment and operators are often required to share tight spaces, which may increase the chances of collisions that can result in injuries, costly damage to goods and infrastructure, and lost productivity.
- Managing the stability of loads during lifting and transportation is critical. Abrupt movements or incorrect handling can lead to load spills, posing risks to operators and nearby workers.
- Limited visibility in busy warehouses, especially areas with high foot traffic, can also require additional safety considerations.
- Warehouses often have areas with varying levels of activity and different safety requirements. Adapting to these dynamic conditions helps maintain a safe working environment.
Yale Reliant empowers your operators
Yale Reliant is an advanced operator assistance system that leverages technology to support operator productivity and safety in your operations. Encouraging operator best-practice by proactively adjusting lift truck performance based on real-time conditions, it can dynamically adapt speed and fork control to maintain the combined stability of the lift truck and load.
Yale Reliant, available through Briggs Equipment offers a three-pronged approach to supporting lift truck operators. First, Advanced Dynamic Stability continuously monitors truck and load, applying performance adjustments to improve stability while keeping the operator in control. Second, Collision Avoidance Assist detects obstacles and reduces truck speed to help avoid collisions. Lastly, Location-Based Assist uses real-time location sensing (RTLS) to enforce custom rules, like speed, fork height restrictions, and exclusion zones, within designated areas.
Don’t forget your pedestrians!
Selected Yale lift truck models can also be fitted with the optional Dynamic Pedestrian Awareness Lights. These compact LED lights can be front and/or rear mounted on most Yale electric forklifts, and are direction activated.
Supporting a culture of safety
Maintaining a safe working environment is crucial for operational success. Implementing Yale Reliant is not just about technology; it’s about fostering a culture of safety within your warehouse. By integrating this system into your operations, you demonstrate a commitment to protecting your workforce and assets.
