Carla Mead helps raise valuable funds for mental health charity Andy’s Man Club

Talking about mental health still has a stigma attached to it, especially for men. Charities such as Andy’s Man Club are working to change that attitude and encourage more men to talk openly about their struggles and receive the support they need.

At Briggs Equipment, Invoice Controller, Carla Mead has been raising money for Andy’s Man Club after her son in law took his life in July 2020. The £380 Carla has raised, along with the £1,000 donation from Briggs, will help fund the various nationwide support groups that Andy’s Man Club has set up and provide men with the opportunity to talk openly. By getting men talking, the Charity hope to break down these stigmas and create greater awareness around mental health.

Esther Speck, from Briggs Equipment’s Charity Team commented: “Carla’s story is incredibly moving and the money she has raised along with the donation from Briggs, will help Andy’s Man Club in their campaign to get men talking. The awareness of mental health issues is improving all the time thanks to the work of charities and national campaigns, however there is still lots of work to be done.

“I’d like to thank Carla for her bravery in sharing her story and we are incredibly proud of her for fund raising for such a fantastic cause, which will help support others in a similar situation.”
