Royal approval as Team Briggs help make Armed Forces Weekend a success!

Last weekend, (26 & 27th June) the National Memorial Arboretum hosted the Armed Forces Weekend and Briggs Equipment was there again as the main sponsor of the event.

The celebrations were attended by 100 service personnel and their families as well as Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence. Princess Anne even took time out of her visit to speak with our team about their various charity endeavours.

As part of the sponsorship, a dedicated team of volunteers helped set up the Briggs display, which featured the legendary forklift basketball, a charity tombola, colouring competitions and much more. The future motocross star, Samuel Gibbs (son of Briggs Engineer, Alan) also come down to visit and showcase his motorbike that he’s currently competing with. There was also the world renowned Red Arrows display team, who provided a dramatic fly-past on Saturday afternoon and wowed the crowds.

The donations received throughout the event have helped raise over £700 for the National Memorial Arboretum.

Janet Noble, from Briggs Equipment’s Charity Team, commented: “I’m absolutely delighted with the turnout at the weekend and the positive responses we received in person and via social media to the activities that were put on by our team.

“At Briggs, we’ve got a proud history of supporting the Armed Forces Weekend and despite the ongoing restrictions, we were able to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone who visited us. We were even lucky enough to welcome Princess Anne and her entourage to our area, and she was particularly interested in the Pets as Therapy, Shiba Inu dogs.

“I’d like to thank everyone who popped by to say hello and of course to our wonderful volunteers who helped make this whole event possible.”
