The next generation has arrived | Briggs apprentice engineers graduate into full time roles

16 September, 2020 by Tom Peace

Following four years of hard work and dedication, all 13 of Briggs Equipment’s final year apprentices have graduated into full time engineer roles as of 1st September 2020.

After starting their apprenticeship journey with Briggs back in September 2016, the successful students have combined studying at Stafford College for Plant and Machinery Maintenance qualifications, with technical training alongside our experienced engineering team. The newly qualified engineers will be based across the UK, providing exceptional support to customers from a wide range of industries.

Briggs Equipment’s engineers are the heartbeat of the business and throughout the Coronavirus pandemic they’ve helped keep business moving at a time when the country needed it most. A significant number of Briggs customers operate within critical sectors such as food production, logistics and healthcare, so it’s crucial that our engineers can respond quickly and effectively to requests. The comprehensive apprenticeship scheme, along with extensive ongoing support and training, helps provide those newly qualified with all the knowledge to succeed in their new role.

Gavin Wickham, Briggs Equipment’s Group Engineering Services Director, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the latest cohort of graduates from our hugely successful apprenticeship programme. I would like to congratulate them for this achievement and for the dedication and commitment to the profession and our business that they have shown throughout.

“The four year course is a challenging one, but it provides an excellent grounding in the skills and expertise required to become a fully qualified Briggs engineer.

“The fact that all 13 of the apprentices have completed the course is testament to the graduates themselves, but also the support and guidance provided by our Learning and Development team, Service Managers and Field Engineers who have all played a part in their journey.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming them all into our team as they help our customers keep business moving during these challenging times.”
