Introduction
Pentagon Freight Group is a global leader in delivering best-in-class freight forwarding and logistics services to the energy and resource industries. For over 40 years Pentagon has been providing solutions to customers across the globe and continues to grow its reach and reputation.
Situation
To help meet the demands of its customer base, Pentagon has moved one of its UK mechanical handling hubs to a bigger and more suitable warehouse environment in Dartford. Whilst this move ensured an overall increase in productivity and efficiency, Pentagon Freight Group required appropriate industrial equipment to support the on-site team and help successfully manage workflow.
Pentagon undertook a process of identifying a new equipment supplier that had:
- a proven track record of working with similar sized businesses
- experience within the freight industry
- the capability to provide customised products to help manage short and long term goals
Solution
Following a detailed pre-project evaluation process, Briggs Equipment was chosen as the approved supplier, and we successfully identified a fleet of new machines that matched Pentagon’s requirements.
The new fleet consists of four individually customised trucks, including:
- 1x Hyster 5.0 forklift, which we fully customised to perform safely and effectively within containers
- 1x Hyster 2.0XT IC forklift, which PFG will use mainly to transport loads in an outdoor environment
- 1x Hyster 2.0XT IC forklift, that will operate indoors which we fully fitted with non-marking tyres
- 1x R1.2E reach truck, which is an indoor reach truck equipped with a triplex mast and 7000mm fork height
Action
Each of the four trucks supplied are designed to perform a specific role within Pentagon’s operations. As a result, they can achieve a higher level of accuracy and efficiency during use. Having the capability to meet these specialist requirements and deliver a truly bespoke fleet of machines, is a key part of the Briggs Equipment service.
Result
We delivered the new fleet in 2021 and the trucks are already having a positive impact on-site. To help cover the lead time from the initial order to delivery, we were able to supply Pentagon with appropriate equipment from our extensive hire fleet.
