Briggs Equipment renews British Superbikes sponsorship for 2016

Following a highly successful British Superbikes season, materials handling specialist Briggs Equipment is pleased to announce it is continuing its sponsorship with the Royal Air Force BMW team.

The company is continuing to support the team, and new rider Alastair Seeley, in the 2016 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship (BSB) and the North West 200, Ireland’s largest outdoor sporting event, which takes place in Coleraine, Co. Londonderry in May.

Gary Clements, Strategic Development Director of Briggs Equipment said: “We have a longstanding partnership with the Ministry of Defence and are thrilled to extend our support to the Royal Air Force BMW team for another year.

“We are delighted to see Alastair join the team. It’s a great opportunity for a rider of his experience and the new partnership will make for exciting racing.  We wish Alastair and the team every success for the season ahead.”

Under the terms of its sponsorship, Briggs Equipment will enjoy prominent branding on the race bikes, on Alastair’s race leathers and on the team’s clothing. There will also be TV coverage of some of the rounds on Eurosport, ITV and ITV4.

Alastair Seeley hails from Carrickfergus and is an experienced rider who returns to the BSB grid after finishing runner-up in last year’s Superstock series. A former winner of both the Supersport and Superstock titles, Seeley last raced in Superbikes in 2012 and is relishing the opportunity to build on his BMW experience with the Royal Air Force BMW squad.

Having demonstrated its capabilities with several podium finishes in 2015, the team begins a rigorous testing programme in March. Alastair is confident they will be able to pick up points from the opening round and is aiming to be in the mix at the end of the season Showdown, which sees the top riders compete for overall honours.

Lee Hardy, Team Manager of the Royal Air Force BMW, said: “Corporate sponsorship is an integral part of racing these days, so we’re delighted to have Briggs Equipment on board for another season and look forward to developing the partnership and building on the achievements of the past couple of years.”

The opening round of the 2016 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship is at Silverstone on April 8-10.
