Briggs Equipment is incredibly proud to announce that two of our Apprentice Engineers, Tom Wright and Josh Adams, were nominated and shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year in their respective cohorts at the UK Material Handling Association (UKMHA) Archies Awards – a prestigious national recognition of excellence within the materials handling industry.
A special congratulations goes to Tom Wright, who was named Apprentice of the Year (2nd Year). This is an outstanding achievement and a well-deserved recognition of his hard work, dedication, and talent!

Dan Bovingdon, Engineering Services Director, said:
“This is a truly fantastic award for Tom to win. It’s a testament to the consistent effort and positive attitude he brings to his work every single day.”
His recognition at the Archies isn’t just a personal milestone, it’s a proud moment for the entire company. It reinforces the value of our apprenticeship programme, and the positive impact that early-career professionals can have within the workplace.
At the heart of our business is a strong commitment to investing in people – especially young, aspiring Engineers who are shaping the future of our industry. Our apprenticeship programme is designed not just to train, but to inspire.
Dan added:
“Tom exemplifies everything we hope to achieve through this approach. His enthusiasm, creativity, and fresh perspective have been invaluable to our team, and watching his development has been incredibly rewarding.”

As part of his award, Tom received £500 in prize money, which he plans to put to good use:
“I am very grateful for my prize money and am looking forward to spending it on a resto-mod I am doing over winter on my Honda CX500 in my own workshop. The money I’ve received will help greatly to fund the electronics I am designing for it and will allow me to purchase the parts I need to build an exhaust system.”
Tom added:
“I am very grateful for even being nominated and happy to have been recognised for my abilities and for the effort I put into my apprenticeship. I am always looking to progress in this career, learn more and do more every day and I am appreciative of being acknowledged for that.
“I would highly recommend the Briggs Apprenticeship to anybody willing to put in the effort to start a great career in Engineering. It offers a great opportunity to learn the trade as a starting point or for people with some experience looking to learn more like myself.”
Please join us in congratulating Tom on this exceptional accomplishment. We’re proud to have him as part of the Briggs team, and we look forward to watching his continued success!
